It's the year 2205 AD. Historical revisionists, seeking to change the course of history, have begun their offensive in the past. The Government of Time, who fights against them, has dispatched a Saniwa into the past to protect history. The Saniwa, being able to sense spiritual energy, was able to bring out the tsukumogami spirits residing within swords. Together with the "Touken Danshi," the Saniwa has dedicated themselves to fighting to protect the course of history.
At the citadel, Sayo Samonji seems somehow upset. Attendent Yamanbagiri Kunihiro attempts to ask him what the matter is, but Sayo evades him.
Meanwhile, Ookurikara and Kasen Kanesada have gone to the year 1742 on an investigation mission - but once they get there, they end up quarreling. The other swords who all once originally belonged to the Date Clan like Ookurikara - Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, Tsurumaru Kuninaga and the newly manifested Taikogane Sadamune - think about how they can get the two to make up. Tsurumaru can't think of a good plan, but when he goes to discuss it with the master, he ends up set with an unexpected task. Mikazuki Munechika keeps an eye on everyone at the citadel.
Elsewhere, in the warring states period, Toyotomi Hideyoshi is attempting to unify the country. At this turning point of the era, one man is mourning its end. That man is Date Tojiro Masamune. As he watches his dreams he had for the country go up in smoke, his loyalty bound and sworn friend Hosokawa Yoichiro Tadaoki admonishes him - to live in the coming peaceful world. Will Masamune's hopes of ruling the country stay an 《unfinished dream》...
One day, the Touken Danshi receive orders to set out for the front-lines. There, in the year 1600, they find the Eastern Army led by Tokugawa Ieyasu and the Western Army led by the likes of Mori Terumoto and Ishida Mitsunari in an almighty clash - one that will decide the fate of the country - the Battle of Sekigahara.
What will the Touken Danshi see there...?
